The segment centers around the recent news regarding the Tioga Tribune closing their doors. Tioga is in the heart of the Bakken oilfield between Williston and Minot, North Dakota.
The Williston Economic Development has spent tens of thousands, if not more, on a podcast and Minot just started theirs. While a newspaper, magazine, radio and television station have to produce results and use a sales department to generate revenue, appointed leaders like the ones in Williston and Minot can just decide to become a media professional using the Economic Development’s budget.
